  QUICK LIME OR BURNT LIME


It is a white, caustic, alkaline crystalline solid at room temperature.Quick lime is used in mortar and plaster, in glass production and in metal production industries to remove impurities.Burnt lime is produced from limestone by heating to 1100oC and allowing the following reaction to take place:
CaCo3 + Heat---------------------------------->CaO + Co2

  Hydrated Lime


A suspension of fine calcium hydroxide particles in water is called milk of lime. The solution is called lime water and is a medium strength base that reacts with acids and attacks many metals. Limestone is used as a fertilizer and in the manufacture of glass and cement.
